...On Gender Equality

.A lot of African leaders profess their concerns and care about the grassroot, and they employ as a competitive advantage- their agenda of women's inclusion into politics. These are mere political strategies for seeking more votes.Enough of their rhetorics and cliches.I believe it's time the Middle East air of change sweep across African countries in the context of gender equality.

First, the value bar societies place on women must be raised;from the perimeter of every home, our value system needs a revamp.Husbands should not go unpunished for beating up their wives.Slight surprise rape rate and female student victimization(by lecturers) in our colleges and universities is disheartening. This inter-generational value system transfer needless to say, must be checked.
A female coursemate taught me a Mathematic course while preparing for my final exams back then in school.Suffice to say she'd be indispensable anywhere she works.

Government should legislate laws and institutionalize regulatory body to evaluate and monitor workforce gender distribution in corporate bodies. An appreciable quota must be reserved for women in order to brace up the productivity gap.Thank goodness African countries are beginning to include women in politics. They need Strategic Marketing so as to inspire an average girl-child.Imagine Saudi Arabia disenfranchising women of the right to vote.

It's a thing of joy Middle East is experiencing a positive perspective or so to say, dimension to what anarchy had been known to be.This anarchy has created a new social order to Africa and Middle East.
Kudos to the UN MDGs, and World Bank for their thought and action leaderships.

Give Him What He Needs

Give Him What He Needs

w/ 'Wemen Ojo

Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love.
Proverbs 5; 18- 19

If you have ever fixed your mental gaze on the breasts-‘the feelings booster’- as what sustains relationship, it is paramount you erase and expunge this picture from your mind. A time approaches every woman when her physiological set up shrinks from her youthful frame. Then, something is happening to her- change; it is constant. The breasts no longer stand in their places. They are falling down apart. That is why feelings don’t sustain relationship. Emotion does not bring commitment in courtship. Permit me to play on some words to paint a better picture. Curves do not carve out commitment in courtship, character does.

From the passage above, what satisfaction does a man get from the falling breasts of a woman? Take note, I underlined loving, graceful and enraptured. I checked up these words in the Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary   to discover some things. Loving means showing love or strong affection.  Graceful is pleasing in both styles and attitude; polite and considerate. “Considerate” was capitalized in the dictionary, so I curiously flipped a few pages backward to find the meanings; it reads, ‘careful not to hurt or trouble others; thoughtful’. Enraptured means be filled with great delight and joy. Therefore, it is character as being loving, pleasing in style and attitude, or being considerate and thoughtful of the man, that satisfies him, not really the breasts.
The character will carve the commitment, and the man will be enraptured with you, even when the breasts are losing their curves. So, Woman! Give the man what he really needs- character, not the curves! Curves aren’t enough, character is the stuff.

ARE YOU THINKING OR STINKING?

w/ 'Wemen Ojo

Little wonder that Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “mind is a terrible thing to waste”. The mind is the element of the soul of man that does no other function but to think. When the mind is not engaged in a voyage of thinking- right thinking- it becomes sunk in stagnation, and ends up stinking; so no thinking, get stinking.
The mind, divided into the subconscious and the conscious, receives knowledge by instinct and information. By instinct, a man is restricted to the confine of its cave. If you live by instinct, you would soon become extinct. However, information transcends instinct in its dynamism.

Information is the bane of civilization ever witnessed. It was the concealed information revealed to someone in the Stone Age that sprung the transformation and catapulted mankind to the next age.
This is why T.D.Jakes, the renowned American preacher said, "what you don’t know can hurt you". Permit me to stretch it beyond you: "what you don’t know can hurt your great grandchildren”. The good news is that you cannot be hurt anymore, if you are obedient to the dictate of development under your nose. Thank God for authors who wrap up experiences of 20 years in a 200-page book for the price of $20. What more can you get from such books, if not information?

Why not put yourself to test? See how far you can go. Pick up a book, and experience a new you emerging from the mental rut that has held you deep in complacency. I bet you! If you can finish reading every letter in this page, you have conquered the war of ignorance.

If you ask me,” how do I get started?”Simple!

Stir up a DESIRE to read.
Make a DECISION to read one, but start with a minibook of about 100 pages. The book must come with a title that tickles your interest.
DEVELOP a reading plan or schedule; it must be convenient for you bearing in mind your vocation.
Set DEADLINE for the completion of the book. Please, it must be realistic with respect to your reading speed. This is no time to impress you with impossible deadline. There is one thing it will do to you – discouragement. However, if not achieved, finish the book, anyway.

Easier said than done, isn’t it? Many are a decision undone, voices unheard, desires unfulfilled, target unachieved, doors unopened. A journey of a thousand kilometres commences with a step. The first step to take is to act, and the first step not to take is to procrastinate. Procrastination is a thief of time; and time is money and life. Waste time, you waste your life. But I am convinced beyond any conceivable doubt etched on the tablet of your heart. I know you will do it, because something tells me that you have just crossed the line into transformation. That is what information does.

Concerned Leadership

CONCERNED LEADERSHIP
Every citizenry empowered with the franchise to vote or be voted for has a significant stake in national governance. However, resentment and discontentment are seen when there is a drift from the roles and goals of the stakeholders.
More than often, erring leaders are put in the spotlight. Little wonder John Maxwell said, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” Leadership error could be experienced in national polity, corporate governance and homes when purpose, vision and original design is misconstrued. That is when leaders are no longer genuinely concerned about the people they represent; resource utilization for meeting citizenry aspiration is expunged from their responsibilities.
Whoever desires to provide leadership must have a servant heart enveloped within the cloak of his flesh. Jesus’ teaching illuminated this when He said, “If I then, your Lord have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. He went a little further,”…But whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.
Servant Leadership is the ultimate leadership style-the perfect backdrop- to showcase the New Nigeria we carry in the inside. Robert Greenleaf who coined and defined Servant Leadership emphasized the leader’s role as steward of the resources provided by the organization. As leaders we should be ready to serve others while staying focused on achieving results positive and powerful enough to equip others to shape their lives. By this, as leaders, the people will not be caused to err.

How To Open A US Domiciliary Account With Less Than N6,000

Have you tried paying tuition for a study abroad or open a forex account with Alpari, or perhaps buy iPad online, and you hit a roadblock because you neither have a domiciliary account nor a credit/debit card like Visa card or MasterCard? A few months ago a childhood friend wanted to pay for some fees abroad but he had no domiciliary account, let alone a Visa card. The troubles we encountered prompted my writing this article.
A lot of people find it unbelievable that one can open a domiciliary account and get a Visa card with less than N6,000.Defining what a domiciliary account should be a good dive before unveiling the how- to.
I did not do so much research to know how best to define or explain what a Domiciliary Account is. Since I have one with Guaranty Trust Bank, I just borrowed their definition. The Guaranty Trust Bank Domiciliary Account allows customers to maintain accounts in foreign currencies. These accounts can be funded through travellers cheques, lodgement of foreign currency cheques, cash inflows and cash deposits. Guaranty Trust Bank Domiciliary Account Holders can withdraw cash or make transfers to their accounts or other accounts offshore.
GTB…wouldn’t you rather pay me for this?
As an individual you can open the account, as well as a corporate body.
What do I need?
GTBank requires an International passport, driver’s license or national ID card for identification. I remember I presented my national ID card. Aside this, a Utility bill, preferably PHCN bill. Ensure the address on the bill is the residential address you intend to fill on the Application form. They’d ask you for passport photograph, say four. Please, remember to request for reference letters for two people who maintain current accounts with any bank for a minimum of 6 months, and collect the Visa Debit Card application form immediately so as to maximize the time. In order to expedite the account opening process, your referees should have GTB accounts. I don’t have a current account with GTBank, but I have stood as a referee for 5 people. You know why? My domiciliary account was used instead of the savings account. For the domiciliary account, you need a $100 to open it; however a minimum deposit of $200 is required for the Visa Debit card to be issued to you. That’s why you open your domiciliary account with $200 which you will authorize to be transferred to your Visa account. Per adventure, you find N32, 000 quite expensive to withdraw from your salary, delay immediate gratifications and start with N16, 000 in the first month for opening the account. Collect the Visa Card application form, fill and submit it. The second month deposit another $100 into your domiciliary account and you can transfer the balance of $200 in the card whenever it is ready

After some weeks, your PIN (Personal Identification Number) should have been delivered in a sealed PIN envelope through the bank’s branch. Sign the back of the card with an ink pen before you start to use it. It is mandatory you change promptly the PIN the bank issued you using one of the ATM points. Remember your new PIN, please. Before you’d start using the card, you have to call GTConnect (the GTBank Cardholder services) to activate the card. See the customer Service desk for the GTconnect phone contacts. Go to any ATM point which allows using Visa debit card to withdraw money. Take note! You won’t be able to withdraw in dollars, but the naira equivalent. Certain charges are deductible from the $200 in your Visa Debit card.
What’s The Cost for All These?
$200 is not less than N6, 000 you’d scream at the rooftop! Let’s assume you earn a monthly income of N50, 000. Withdraw N32, 000 to buy $200 from a registered Bureau De Change. Fund the domiciliary account with the $200 and transfer same amount to your Visa account. The bank deducts $20 as card issuance fee. There is an Annual fee of $30 which is not deducted immediately. Every withdrawal you make through the ATM point or any online transactions you make, you are charged $5 + 0.5% of amount withdrawn or paid online. It is noteworthy that there is a maximum withdrawal limit of N20, 000 at ATM point for each transaction. So, if you are withdrawing N26, 000, you will be charged for the second withdrawal of N6, 000 another $5 + 0.5% of N6, 000.
Analysis of Expenditure:
(1)Visa Debit card issuance fee                                                     N3,200
(2)Visa Card withdrawal fee ($5) X 2 transactions                        N1,800
(3) 0.5% of cash withdrawn (N26, 000)                                       N   130
(4) Withdrawable Balance in  Card                                               N   870
                                                                                       ------------------------
                TOTAL EXPENSES                                                  N 6,000

                                                                                   ------------------------
Click Below To Buy:

Please note that the balance of N870 in your Visa Card is still your money, hence the total cost for opening the US domiciliary account and getting your Visa Card is N 5, 130.Ridiculously cheap, isn’t it?
As at the time of writing this article, $1 was less than N160.It could be higher when this would be published.
The currency conversion rate used for this article was $1 to N160.I deliberately used the top ceiling of N160 as some Bureau De Change will charge close to that for a ($1) dollar.
Use your card online wisely. My fingers have been burnt before. Don't disclose your card details to anyone, and transfer only the money you intend to use immediately online or withdraw pronto from the ATM points. Best of Successes as you take wise actions.

WHAT STEVE JOBS DID WRONG!

w/ 'Wemen Ojo

Aside the accolades and commendations, couldn’t Apples Steve Jobs be wrong for one thing? I guess you wonder if I am a member of the Westboro Baptist Church, a fringe organization in Kansas that travels around USA protesting and picketing funerals of fallen American soldiers and high profile celebrities.WBC intends to demonstrate on Steve Jobs’ funeral as they did Michael Jackson. Pardon my digression.

“I want to put a ding in the universe.”

“I’m just a guy who probably should have been a semi-talented poet on the Left Bank. I got sort of side-tracked here.”

“Get hungry, be foolish.”

- STEVE JOBS

Steve Jobs was co-founder of Apple Computer, a company he started in a garage with his colleague at Hewlett Packard, Stephen Wozniak, a University of California dropout. Birds of a feather, you’d concur. Unfortunately, they got the strategy wrong, tying the Mac operating system to Apple hardware exclusively. Microsoft went in the other direction, licensing the MS-DOS operating system to every PC manufacturer.

Microsoft dominated the PC software industry, mopping a market share of 80% while Apple was left to munch the 20%. Wow! How did Bill Gates do the magic?

In 1981, a year after Apple went public having its share price rose from $22 to $29 first day, capitalizing the company at $1.2 billion, IBM introduced its first Personal Computers, using the MS-DOS operating system licensed by  Microsoft. Within a year, IBM had exceeded Apple’s PC sales.

Jobs realized that if IBM and Microsoft continued in this trend, he’d be out of job, and Apple could be marginalized.

The troubled Jobs turned to John Sculley, a former Pepsi’s CEO. However, the alliance culminated into the birth of the Apple Computer company- the Apple Macintosh. That restored the status to an extent as Apple Mackintosh became a product leader in using the mouse to point and click on easily recognizable icons. However, this tale came to a disturbing end when Sculley removed Jobs from the company he had founded.

Just wondering, was this the shareholders’ unanimous decision? It couldn’t be John’s personal verdict.

The fired Jobs went to start up NeXT Computer plowing investor’s money in the tune of $250 million to it. It was a disappointment selling only 50,000 units. However, the $60 million he invested into Pixar Animation Studios, a computer –animated blockbusters paid out.

His prodigal sojourn led to the Apple overbite under the Sculley’s leadership as CEO. Apple’s market share plunged from 20% to 8%. Without hesitating, Sculley himself was booted out in 1993, and replaced by Michael Spindler who spindled its market share to just over 5%. The splindler used the exit door in 1996. The new CEO, Gil Amelio invited Jobs back to Apple as a consultant to help. No significant growth occurred, Amelio used the back door too, leaving Steve Jobs as interim CEO in 1997.This was The Second Coming of Steve Jobs.

Without being beaten the second time, Jobs became a born-again stripper; he stripped himself of NeXT operating system that he sold to Apple, severed loss-prone licensing agreements, and voila! The second coming birthed the new iMac.

iMac was ready for the internet and launched with the slogan “Chic Not Geek.” Steve Jobs with an eye for style and marketability sold this new machine significantly using good advertisement. It sold 278,000 units in its first 6 weeks, an achievement that Fortune magazine described as “one of the hottest computer launches ever.” The company’s share price doubled in less than a year. Steve Jobs dropped “interim” from his title 2000.

The rest is history.
